How to Deepen Your Relationship With God in the Storms
When you’re in the storms and you’re overwhelmed with fear, it’s important you stand firm. Even in the storms, you can deepen your relationship with God and strengthen your faith.
The book of John begins like this: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
Eugene Peterson translates those words like this: “The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God, in readiness for God from day one. Everything was created through him; nothing—not one thing!—came into being without him. What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out.”
Jesus, who stood face to face with God, left Heaven because of me, because of you. I was worth it, you were worth it. He came because He loves us and didn’t want us to be away from Him; He didn’t want us to be away from God. He came because His life creates and radiates light. And, with His life and light, He could defeat death and darkness for us. And He did.For me. And for you.
Let’s open our hearts and our minds to Jesus right now, for a moment. Let’s take this opportunity to ask Him how He would like us to connect with Him in this season. Let’s turn to Him and ask, what’s one thing we can do, in this season, to get to know Him more and deepen our faith?
