Bonus Episode: How to Receive God’s Love When You Distrust His Presence
It’s one thing to know God loves you. It’s another thing entirely to experience it for yourself. If you find that you distrust his presence, it’s time to take a new approach to taking in the Word so you can receive God’s love.
We can believe Scripture and understand intellectually that he is with us all the time, but, at the very same time, distrust that fact in our hearts. And so many of us do distrust his presence and his goodness and his love. We believe that it’s all up to us. That no one is coming. That we need to figure things out. That we’re going to have to deal with all of our problems on our own.
But one way to let truth travel from our heads to our hearts is to meditate on it. It is to engage our minds and our hearts to sense truth, to feel it, rather than simply understand it. Love isn’t something that’s meant to be merely understood--especially when it’s as big and wonderful and mysterious as God’s love for his sons and daughters. Love is something to be experienced.
